Description

Carcharodontosaurus was a theropod which existed during the Cretacious period in North Africa. They grew to 9-14 m in length and weighed 6-15 metric tons. The size of their teeth suggests that their skulls were about 1.5 m long. The name means Shark -Tooth Lizard and their sharp knife-like teeth indicate they were carniverous. Their discovery demonstrated that the largest carnivores were more widespread in Africa that previously thought.
